A Mother Owns Her Mistake And Corrected It

r Image: Bryanne Salazar I didn't believe my son when he needed me to believe him the most My sweet youngest child was cross-eyed from birth. I took him to the doctor many times when he was young to make sure nothing was wrong. The doctors all said it was normal and that eventually his eye would straighten out. My husband had the same issue as a child, so I believed his wayward eye was a normal, hereditary event. As he grew, he never seemed to squint or struggle to see, and that was all the proof I needed to validate my assumption that he was growing and developing normally. Eventually, as the doctor’s promised, his side-eye straightened out, and I never thought twice about the matter. Comments   Like   Reblog on Tumblr   Share   Tweet   Email JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa has detected its first outbreak of Tomato Leaf Miner, a pest originally from South America which can ruin tomato and potato crops, the department of agriculture said on Friday. The highly destructive insect feeds on leaves, stems and fruits of plants and can cause widespread crop infection. "This pest is disastrous particularly for tomato production and food security in general," the agriculture department said in a statement. "The biggest challenge with this pest is that it can develop resistance to chemicals within a single season." Eradication of the insect is impossible but the threat could be contained and the tomato and potato industries were working with the government to come up with a plan of action, the department said. Infestations were discovered on a tomato farm in eastern South Africa, in the Kruger National Park and at a border po

A new class of anti-poaching guards at Simon Rood’s academy go through military-style drills. (Krista Mahr/FOR THE WASHINGTON POST) By  Krista Mahr   October 29 at 8:51 PM MARKEN, South Africa —  There was a time when hunters paid good money to hunt animals like antelope and buffalo at Simon Rood’s wild-game reserve. But on a recent day, Rood watched as one of his staff stared into a tangle of dried-out trees and waited to load his rifle during a training exercise. The quarry was something different. “What do we eradicate?” Rood barked. “Poachers!” shouted his employee. Poaching has taken a devastating toll on iconic African wildlife, like the rhinoceros. In the early 20th century, there were about  half a million rhinos  in the wild internationally; today, there are less than 30,000 across Asia and Africa. The vast majority live in South Africa. Protecting those animals has become a serious business. Rood decided several years ago to get out of the hunting

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama speaks in Zurich, Switzerland, on October 14 [Ennio Leanza/EPA] China on Friday rebuked India for inviting exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama to visit a contested stretch of land on the India-China border, warning it would harm relations between the neighbours. China claims more than 90,000 square kilometres of territory disputed by India in the eastern sector of the Himalayas. Much of that forms the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, which China calls South Tibet. A senior aide to the Dalai Lama told Reuters news agency  the 80-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner had accepted an invitation from the state's chief minister and its people to visit Arunchal Pradesh. "His Holiness looks forward to visit in the second week of March," said Tenzin Taklha. Tibetan exiles meet to d

But an archaeologist accompanying the restoration team said ground penetrating radar
