100 Stars that Twinkle in Africa 1

By Okechukwu Okugo

Many people feel or think that in Africa, they don't innovate or possess any capacity for advanced technology.

But the irony of it is that many Africans themselves feel this way. They have always attributed sophistication to western styles and believe whole-heartedly that as Africans they are entitled to continue doing things in a crude way, sitting and waiting to consume only what is sent to them from outside.

But a couple of gifted Africans have shown that there is no land on earth geniuses are not born; there is no land that does not harbor creativity and invention. They have shown that Africans are capable of going to the moon and possessing indigenous nuclear technology if only they themselves would support one another, especially the people in government that have the authority to make influencing policies.

It is also mystifying and inexplicable why most times Africans don't support their own. It is most inexplicable why many Africans prefer something foreign to their own even when they are aware that no other people in any continent on this earth possess the same kind of attitude.

Asians fall in love with home-made things no matter how poor it is perceived outside, so it is with every other people.

But Africans are the only ones that will always find fault with what they have, not minding the fact that support always give room to improvement. For many of them their slogan have always been the more foreign, the better.

Their attitude either directly or indirectly have always depicted that foreign assistance is better than self-assistance.

But these couple of gifted individuals by believing that no empowerment is better than self-empowerment, and that self-assistance has always been far superior than foreign assistance, have proven to be extra-ordinary people living among many ordinary ones.

Dr Kwadwo Safo is one of them whose singular effort has enlisted Ghana in car producing countries. Not only cars, Dr. Kwadwo has invented and produced so many things right on the soil of Ghana, producing all his products right from the scratch in Ghana. (The video above shows how he manufactured an SUV from the scratch using indigenous labor and indigenous materials in Ghana.)

In this series we will be bringing you 100 men and women and even children who have shown that Africans are capable of managing their own affairs; who have shown that Africans can equally innovate and invent right on the soils of Africa; they have shown the creativity and the ingenuity of a black man, showing that all lands are equally blessed by God in intelligence and wisdom.

Below is some of the indigenous productions in Ghana by Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka (No expatriates from China, Korea, India or Europe etc are involved in his line of production. All productions are powered by local talents.)
