BARROW, ALASKA:
This is the most northern part of the United States with a
population of about 4000, a quiet place, very well isolated. And because the sun
sets here on November and does not rise again– throwing the entire place into a
continuous darkness– till the next 2 months, there is no perfect resting and
calm place like Barrow, Alaska, especially for those that love longer nights.

SUPAI, ARIZONA:
Beautiful town with 500 residents, very serene and a sweet
countryside. Because it is located at the bottom of Grand Canyon, no roads go
to Supai. The place is so natural and cool that even today mail is still
delivered here by mule. Enjoy Supai that has truly escaped the pollution of
highly industrialized cities.

GERINJINA MOUNTAIN, NIGERIA:
Of all the isolated places so far considered, the one of
Gerinjina, Nigeria would be of the most interest. This is because this isolated
community was discovered only 6 years ago, 2009 living on a perfect, natural getaway
place on the mountain top; cut off from the whole world, and had nothing to do
with the civilization in Nigeria. Here is a perfect place to visit if you want
to be closer to nature and have a feel of how the Stone Age people survived. The
place was so isolated that even in this 21st century, the people were
found still going about stark naked except covering their vital organs with
stalks of fresh leaves. This hidden getaway place is located on Gerinjina
Mountain in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State, Nigeria. They are
the second naked tribe to be discovered in Nigeria called the Jibu people. The
first naked tribe was discovered around 1986 called the Koma people residing on
the Koma hills in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Taraba and
Adamawa States were formerly known as Gongola State before it was split into
two. The Jibu people are descendants from the Kwarafa kingdom living in the
nine communities scattered around the mountains in Gashaka. But in the late
1800’s when the Fulani Jihadists invaded their kingdom they ran to the mountain
top in a bid to escape the onslaught and finally settling there. Perhaps as a
result of the difficult terrain of their new home, they were subsequently cut
off totally from other tribesmen now living on the lower plains in modernity. To
estimate the effect of this isolation to this peaceful, quiet but very backward
community when they were first discovered by fellow Nigerians and introduced to
modern clothing, it was so hard for many of them to accept putting them on.
Whereas some that readily accepted this new dressing wore the clothes on top of
their leaves. The women valued the leaves so much because it had a very strong
superstitious conception. They believed that should any of the leaf fall off
their waist and a man crosses it, he automatically would become impotent. You
can absolutely escape the hustles and bustles and noises of the overcrowded Nigerian
cities like that of Lagos by hiding in isolation or rest here on the mountain
top, which is also very adventurous. It takes a 9-hour mountain climb to get
there. And the mountain top is characterized by rivers, deep gullies and huge
rocks. But certain caution must be taken when you really yearn to visit and
stay awhile in their scattered settlements. They lack basic amenities;
therefore you should travel with your own provision of clean water. It would
not be unusual to see them drink from the same river with their animals. And
you must protect yourself from mosquito bites. They have high maternal and
child mortality rates and diseases kill them in large numbers. It is very
entertaining watching how skillful their womenfolk are with stones, grinding
corn to prepare their delicious local meals. They are also very hospitable with
their locally brewed liquor called burukutu, the natural type.
