Baby Born With Missing Skull And Brain Proves Doctors Wrong
By Okechukwu Okugo
Jaxon Buell of Florida, was born with a very uncommon condition diagnosed as Microhydranencephaly. He was born with some part of his brain and skull totally missing. And there is no known cause or no known cure.
As a matter of fact, because of the rarity of his case, doctors gave him a few weeks to live on earth. Defying all odds and proving all doctors' prognosis wrong, this adorable baby has lived more than a year and 2 months.
His mom, Brittany Buell told WTLV, as reported in Yahoo! Parenting:
"We never thought he would make it through the pregnancy, let alone months and let alone making it to his first birthday, so for him to reach that milestone is a humongous deal...I think the doctors thought he would only make it a few weeks. They sent me home with hospice, and he was thriving in my eyes, so I cancelled hospice within two or three days of being home."
The doctors had previously ruled in their diagnosis that Jaxon would never walk, talk, hear or even see at all. But hear what his mom had to tell Yahoo! Parenting:
"The brain itself not being fully formed we really just don't know...The doctors don't even know. They've already told us he can't hear. He's not ever going to see or walk or talk or babble or anything. He can see because he reads books with us and watches Mickey Mouse. I can see his eyes going back and forth and he focuses on things. The doctors were 100 percent wrong."
And Jaxon's father, Brandon, confirmed to Yahoo! Parenting, his only child's astonishing progress saying:
"He is stubborn and really works hard to say things, you can see it. He smiles at us and says, 'Mamma and 'addy' constantly and is trying to say, 'I love you.' He's doing something new every single day. We're just so relieved he's happy and smiling and laughing and learning all the time."

Though Jaxon's parents visit the hospital frequently because of his case, and most times leaving without any answer from the doctors, they are resolute in giving their son the best care loving parents would render. And of course they are inspired by the constant progress Jaxon makes against all odds.
And that is why we at Heartmenders Magazine, are wishing Jaxon Buell well to continue enjoying life to the full despite all odds, and wishing his parents the strength to carry on because life itself is a precious gift.
