You May Need To Cancel Your Tourist Trip To Thailand This Time

Image
By Okechukwu Okugo On the evening of April 13, 2016, a British family of 3 were totally knocked out and left lying unconscious on the busy street of a beach town of Hua Hin, in Thailand.  The family moving over to vacate in Thailand, amidst the celebration of Thai's New Year, ran into unwarranted trouble in this busy street, when their son, a 43-year-old man accidentally bumped into a group of four men, according to Fox News, quoting Thai's Police Col. Chiayakorn Sriladecho. The Police Col. also affirmed that the four suspects had been arrested. But the deed had already been done, messing up the family's vacation, and putting them into some unexpected pains. The mother, who is 65 years old, suffered a serious head and eye injury requiring surgery to fix; while the son and the father, who is 68 years old, sustained substantial injuries that required stitching.  According to Fox News, it might interest you to recall that in 2014 a British couple, a man a...

The Bottomless Pit In Your Life

Image
By Okechukwu Okugo As at that time you were still a child, can you remember a toy or item, which you valued so much and held tightly to your bosom, as the most cherished item you cannot do without? Have you dreamt of a position or something, and put in everything you have to get it? Has there been any relationship you saw as, without it your life will end, ready to sacrifice everything, and in the end when you finally succeed, sooner or later, found out how bored or irritated you really were in it? Most people when they buy a new iPhone, the latest SUV or posh car, they become so attached to it that it would seem, all their mind, heart and happiness lies only on that piece of material; so it is with a new mansion, etc. But the irony of life is seen, when that thing you had thought, had meant all and all, directly linking your whole happiness or satisfaction to, sooner or later, after you had gotten it, would equally get bored with it. And not only that, as time passes, a...

Facts That Show Africa Doesn't Want To Fly

Image
By Okechukwu Okugo Africa as a continent of 54 independent countries, and more, is mainly sighted as a consuming continent, not capable of producing anything. But ironically, thousands of innovators and inventors have walked and still walking on the soil of Africa today; showcasing stunning works that yearn and call for support, in order to produce them up to the world's best standards. A lot of people are talking and speculating why Africa is poor and underdeveloped, others have pointed at outsiders as the root cause of Africa's lagging state. In fact a book written by Walter Rodney, published in 1972, titled How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, was embraced by many people in western countries and the majority of Africans as well, as the true problems hampering Africa's advancement, but a closer look at the facts and figures on the ground today, shows that such books are far from the real problems hampering African development. . A closer look at Africa will let y...

You Are What You Are Thinking! Or Don't You Believe?

Image
By Okechukwu Okugo What is erroneous thinking? It describes a pattern or ways of thinking shaped by inaccurate, untrue or false misconceptions. It also involves a thinking process that strays from a wise or right path. Thoughts and thought processes, based on ideas, opinions, notions etc., that are mistaken, incorrect, wrong or containing errors, and straying from what is moral, decent and proper can also be described as erroneous thinking. Our background, life experiences, family or cultural beliefs, who we grew up and associate with as friends, what religion we are, our political views, all contribute to shape how our minds think through; or what we formulate in our minds. And this becomes our predominant thoughts, that invariably shape our actions. Some other thinking patterns are acquired later on in life; for example, through what we continue to read and imbibe. The media also exert such a powerful influence on people's thinking patterns. But is erroneous think...

Names Are So Important You Just Can't Name Your Newborn Whatever You Like

Image
Source: GoodHouseKeeping.Com By  Rebecca Shinners Note: This article appeared in the source under the Title: A Judge Just Declared This Baby's Name Illegal: When you see it, you'll understand why. Some names are  so bizarre , we can't believe they've ever been given to children. But a recent landmark case just went a step further by telling a mother she can't give her newborn twins the names she chose.  The mother, who is from Powys, Wales, attempted to name her offspring "Cyanide" and "Preacher."  She believed "Cyanide" was a pretty name for a little girl with positive implications since it's the poison that killed both Hitler and his follower Joseph Goebbels,  according to  Metro . She also argued that she had the right to name her own children. However, Justice Eleanor King ruled that the name could cause emotional harm to the child in the future.   "It is h...

S. Korea covered up mass abuse, killings of 'vagrants'

Image
KIM TONG-HYUNG and FOSTER KLUG; AP BUSAN, South Korea (AP) — The 14-year-old boy in the black school jacket stared at his sneakers, his heart pounding, as the policeman accused him of stealing a piece of bread. Even now, more than 30 years later, Choi Seung-woo weeps when he describes all that happened next. The policeman yanked down the boy's pants and sparked a cigarette lighter near Choi's genitals until he confessed to a crime he didn't commit. Then two men with clubs came and dragged Choi off to the Brothers Home, a mountainside institution where some of the worst human rights atrocities in modern South Korean history took place. A guard in Choi's dormitory raped him that night in 1982 — and the next, and the next. So began five hellish years of slave labor and near-daily assaults, years in which Choi saw men and women beaten to death, their bodies carted away like garbage. Choi was one of thousands — the homeless, the drunk, but mostly children and the...
